Children are exposed to porn and begin to access pornography as they increase in age. It has been found that the initial exposure point ranges from 10-17 years of age. After the first point of contact with the material, their is increased activity. Being involuntarily exposed to pornography is more prevalent than willingly accessing it as a child.
There is a significant gender difference in retrospect to exposure and voluntary engagement; boys are more likely to be be exposed to porn and are also more likely to seek it independently. Coherently, boys have more positive attitudes about pornography than that of girls. A minor should not have an opinion on pornography at all, it should not be in their scope of knowledge. A correlation has also been found that, in general, there is a relationship between exposure and youth engaging in risky behavior. Behavior such as unprotected sex, sodomy, and alcohol/drug use.
